Maurice de Vlaminck (1876–1958) was a French Painter who is considered one of the principal artists of the Fauve Movement: a modern art form that is characterized by the the intense usage of over-saturated colors. Inspired the Impressionism movement, Vlaminck’s work uses heavily stroked paint application and vibrant use of color. The break in the style is that the work becomes less about what is actually being represented and moves close to a feeling exuding from the work through color and brushwork.
