Eric Carle is an American illustrator and children’s book writer. He is most famous for The Very Hungry Caterpillar, but has illustrated over 70 children’s books that have sold worldwide. Carle creates his images using a collage style in which he used hand-painted paper to create layered images. He won the Hans Christian Andersen Award in 2010 for his contribution as a children’s illustrator.
